In The Post: A Safe Place Holds Teen Dating Violence Townhall

The Oakland Post covered A Safe Place’s latest Town Hall meeting during February for Teen Dating Violence Prevention Month.

Teen dating violence and prevention was the topic of discussion at the February 15 Town Hall meeting in Oakland City Hall. Teens and youth advocates shined a light on an important but under-discussed issue facing young people during the “Teens Acknowledging Their Strength and Power. A Safe Place, an Oakland-based domestic violence shelter and agency, organized the session to commemorate “National Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Month”. Hosted by Council Member Desley Brooks and the City of Oakland, several speakers emphasized faith as a crucial factor that allowed them to survive some of the most horrific crises. As this is an ongoing challenge within our community, A Safe Place welcomes your comments.
